YOUNG people were able to find out about some of the fantastic opportunities open to them in the Crediton area at “A Celebration of Youth” held at Lords Meadow Leisure Centre on Monday, January 22.
There were more than 20 stalls from various local organisations, clubs and groups and many young people went along to talk to the stallholders and find out about their organisations.
There were “have-a-go” opportunities and fun activities.
The event was organised by Involve Mid Devon, Crediton Town Council, Crediton Youth Club, Mid Devon Primary Care Network and Queen Elizabeth’s School.
More than 100 young people attended from Queen Elizabeth’s School and many members of the public also went along.
There was a challenge for young people to complete which included talking to a number of the stallholders and finding out what they do.
Prizes are being awarded to some of those who completed the challenge.
Principal organiser Involve Mid Devon Crediton Community Builder Tamlyn Fraiquin said that the event had been a great success.
She said: “The reason for ‘A Celebration of Youth’ was to connect our communities to the clubs, societies and groups, to give them visibility and encourage participation and awareness among young people.
“We had more than 20 stallholders and there was great engagement.
“This was a flagship event and I hope for many more similar events in the future.
“I would like to thank everyone who attended for giving up their time and expertise to make it such a success.
“I would like to thank Mid Devon Leisure for use of the facilities and those who helped stage the event, QE School, Crediton Town Council, Involve Mid Devon and Mid Devon Primary Care Network.”
