THE trunk of a dead tree in the grounds of Shobrooke Park Cricket Club near Crediton has been transformed into a replica of a giant cricket bat!

Club members decided to make the replica model and, now completed, hope to attract a major sponsor or two to have their name proudly displayed on the bat.

The cricket club runs both a First Eleven and Second Eleven and was formed in 1890.

It has an idyllic cricket pitch and clubhouse location in the centre of the scenic Shobrooke Park.

Officers of the club are: chairman, Peter Turner; president, Dr J Shelley; treasurer, Peter Rose; fixture secretary, Roger Jones; secretary, Richard Pyle.

The club, which is affiliated to the Devon Cricket League and Exeter Evening Cricket League, would also like to hear from anybody who is interested in joining the club in any capacity, such as playing, scoring, umpiring or making teas.

If you could help with sponsorship, or in another capacity, please contact the clubs chairman, Peter Turner on 07816 917525 or contact the club email: [email protected]">[email protected] .
