CREDITON firefighters are planning their next car wash event in aid of The Firefighters’ Charity.

It will take place at Crediton Fire Station in Charlotte Street, Crediton on Saturday, March 29, from 10am to 2pm.

The Fire Fighters Charity offers specialist, lifelong support for members of the UK fire services community, empowering individuals to live happier and healthier lives.

The charity helps all serving and retired members of the UK's fire family to live healthier and happier lives and also helps their families.

Support could include enabling firefighters and their families to access empowering information, advice and support, make positive changes to lifestyle or support from injury or illness.

If one of these applies to you or your loved one, you are eligible for help from the Fire Fighters Charity*

• Fire services personnel (wholetime, retained, on-call, uniformed, control or support) • Former fire personnel with five years’ service (or two if you were made redundant) • Medically retired fire personnel (no qualifying length of service required) • Works firefighters and former works firefighters with five years’ service • Ministry of Defence firefighters and former MoD firefighters with five years’ service • Those who manage or assist a Fire Services Youth Scheme • Fire services chaplains or faith leaders • Eligible dependants of any of the above • Fire services volunteers *(qualifying criteria may apply).

At Crediton Fire Station on March 29, card and cash payments will be accepted from those who take their cars along to be washed by the local fire crew.

Over the years, the Crediton firefighters and their Station Commander Neil Hargreaves have raised thousands of pounds for the charity.
