A MUSICIAN whom Bob Dylan described as “the single most important figure in English folk-rock” is set to perform in Crediton with his son.

Ashley “The Guvnor” Hutchings and Blair Dunlop’s concert will take place at Crediton Parish Church from 7.30pm on Saturday, March 29 as part of the Spring Awakening Music Festival.

Mr Hutchings formed the group Fairport Convention in 1967, and later Steeleye Span and the Albion Band. He was awarded an MBE in 2015.

Mr Dunlop, his son, is an award-winning folk singer-songwriter.

The event is billed as “a father-son celebration of Ashley’s 80th birthday with words and music from a life in folk music and beyond”.

Tickets for the event cost £20 for adults and £18 for concessions. To book, visit: ticketsource.co.uk/creditonartscentre.
