PLANNING permission is being sought to demolish a former veterinary surgery in Lapford and replace it with a four-bedroom home.
The current building is single-storey and has a shed and car park with 15 parking spaces.
The new house would be two storeys high and placed more centrally in the plot than the former surgery.
The outside of the new home would have painted render above a brick course on the ground floor and cladding on the first floor. The windows and doors would be dark grey and there would be solar panels on part of the roof.
Downstairs, the house would have an entrance lobby leading to an open-plan kitchen-diner, a separate lounge, an office and a utility room. Upstairs, there would be four bedrooms and a bathroom.
The property would have a detached double garage, two off-street parking spaces (one of which would be for an electric vehicle) and a rear garden with a new patio and space for an air-source heat pump.
The new home would not be put up for sale. Instead, the applicants, named only as Mr and Mrs Tucker, would move into it as their family home.
The property would be accessed from Popes Lane as before.
The plans have received one objection at the time of writing from Darren and Marion Webster.
They wrote: “It is a major concern to us that the access for large vehicles has been overlooked.
“Since the 1970s and probably before, the vets car park has been used as a turning area for delivery vehicles, including heating oil, waste lorries and pallet drops, as well as any emergency services that may need to access the extremely narrow lane.”
