CREDITON Flower Club members were delighted to welcome Alison Penno from Launceston to demonstrate at the club’s July meeting.

Alison runs a flower shop, teaches, demonstrates and has been extremely successful with her exhibits at the Chelsea Flower Show.

She entertained her audience with an inspired demonstration producing stunning arrangements based on her chosen theme “Summer Scentsations”.

She produced a variety of styles and skilfully created a kaleidoscope of colours and textures in her designs.

A simple design to begin - a large bamboo plate lined with grass was filled with an abundance of sunflowers and tree peony.

Next, and in contrast, every summer flower and colour you could think of were used in her interpretation of a garden hedgerow.

Hydrangeas, foxtail lilies, larkspur and liatris to name but a few - a wonderful burst of summer colour.

A simple hoop formed part of Alison’s next design. Using deep apricot lilies, acer and heuchera leaves she created a perfect sunset.

A small wedding pedestal came next in cream and white and for her finale “Tropical Holiday” - a beautiful stone pot highlighted the wonderful variation of exotic plant material.

A brilliant evening - Gill Collier gave a vote of thanks and wished Alison well on her approaching preliminaries for her national test.

The next meeting will be held on Thursday, September 13 and will be an “Imposed” demonstration by Fiona Hammond “Pick and Mix” at the Boniface Centre.

Please note it is an earlier starts than usual - 6.30pm for a prompt beginning of 6.45pm as we have to leave the Boniface Centre earlier than usual that evening.

Visitors and new members always welcome.
