NEARLY 700 Christmas cards were delivered in Crediton by the First Crediton Scouts Christmas postal service this year.

Post boxes and stamp buying facilities were available from mid November until just before Christmas at many shops and businesses in the town.

The Scouts charged just 25p for each Christmas card delivered in the town.

After the deadline closed, all the cards were sorted by volunteers and then delivered by the Scouts, Beavers, Cubs, Leaders, parents and other volunteers.

Debbie Richards, First Crediton Group Scout Leader, said the service was another great success and raised £171.55 for the First Crediton Scout funds.

She added special thanks to all the shops and businesses which accommodated the boxes and sold stamps and thanked the public for using the service.
