ON Wednesday, April 12, Haldon Group of Young Farmers’ Club is performing its award-winning entertainments for the final time in Devon before the National Federation of Young Farmers’ finals at the end of the month.
The “warm up to nationals” event is being held at the New Hall in Tiverton, 7pm for 7.30pm.
For the first time, Haldon YFC is presenting a group entertainments performance, involving members from all six clubs within Haldon Group.
With members aged 11 to 28, many of the members and most of the clubs involved have never taken part in a YFC performing arts competition before.
Their entertainments performance involves singing, dancing and acting and is entitled “Fields of Gold”.
It's a celebration of growing up in the countryside with the four youngest members of the cast aspiring to become our future farmers.
Katie Grist, Haldon YFC Chairman, says: “The main aim from our Group Entertainments performance was to bring the clubs closer together and get more members taking part in the performing arts competitions.
“In our performance, ‘Fields of Gold’, we have had 46 members involved, and the enthusiasm from members across all six clubs has been brilliant.
“We managed to win both the county finals as well as the recent South West Area finals, beating stiff competition from a Cornwall county team.
“We are now heading to the National Finals at the end of April where we hope to do the county proud.
“A big thank you must go to Dan Grist and Richard Tucker for putting our performance together and for all their hard work.”
