THE Saint Boniface Concert Society is presenting two exciting concerts this month, to add double delight to the high summer: the first on Thursday, June 22, and the second on Thursday, June 29. Both concerts take place in Crediton Parish Church at 7.30pm.
On June 22, Scottish cellist Hugh Mackay will be performing with Michael Pandya (piano). The concert will include works by Beethoven, Clara Schumann, Janacek and Brahms.
Hugh Mackay is an exciting and versatile young artist who has performed in many leading venues in the UK and abroad, including the Wigmore Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Konzerthaus Dortmund and the Palace of Versailles.
He was awarded a scholarship with the Mozart Gesellschaft Dortmund in 2021, and the Suggia Gift, a prize given to outstanding young cellists in the UK, in 2022.
Hugh made his professional debut in 2021 with highly acclaimed performances with the Bremer Philharmoniker orchestra in Dortmund and Bremen.
As an avid chamber musician, Hugh has performed in music festivals all over the country, including the West Wycombe Chamber Music Festival, where he collaborated with leading viola-player Lawrence Power.
Michael Pandya is a widely acclaimed pianist, vocal coach and repetiteur. He has performed at festivals all over the UK and Europe, and won the prestigious Gerald Moore and Kathleen Ferrier accompaniment prizes.
HANNAH CONDLIFFE
On June 29 the outstanding young oboist Hannah Condliffe will be performing with Dominic Doutney (piano) in a concert including works by Britten and Poulenc. This concert is supported by the Countess of Munster Trust.
Hannah, a first-class graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, is a highly talented musician who won the Munster Trust Neil Black Prize in 2019 as an outstanding woodwind player.
She has played principal guest oboe with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra and Royal Northern Sinfonia, as a concerto soloist with the European Union Chamber Orchestra, and as a soloist at the Wigmore Hall.
Hannah is a founding member of the award-winning Daphnis Wind Quintet which has given concerts across the UK and France.
The pianist Dominic Doutney is a highly-esteemed recitalist, concerto soloist and broadcaster.
Crediton Parish Church, where the concerts are to be held, provides free parking and disabled access. Drinks will be on offer during the interval.
