A TALENTED young self-taught pianist who began playing aged 12 years during lockdown in 2020 will present a concert in Exeter this weekend.
Octavea Lee (15), from Newton St Cyres, will present A Suite of Romantic Music at the United Reformed Church, Southernhay, Exeter, from 2pm on Saturday, August 19.
See and hear this gifted pianist play Beethoven, Debussy, Hopekirk, Petzold, Satie, Grieg, Bennet, Lyadov and the Schumanns.
It will be free to walk in but donations would be welcomed towards the URC’s church music funds if you wish.
In addition, the concert will feature Tim Matthews from the Royal Scottish Conservatoire, Trinity College, London and the London College of Music.
Tim, from Crediton, will be in duet with Octavea, playing “Charminade”.
In just three years, Octavea went through the piano grades and achieved grade 7 piano distinction in 18 months.
She now plays pieces towards piano diploma. She also studies grade 7 music theory and grade 7 Recorder, all self taught.
