CREDITON’S community-owned bookshop is continuing its program of free afternoon author events in March and April.
Local poet Michael Hartland will be coming to The Bookery on Tuesday, March 18 at 3.30pm.
His online poetry blogs have had over 75,000 views from more than 130 different countries.
His work “Devon A Light” is being published for the event and signed copies will be available to buy on the day.
On Thursday, March 27 at 3.30pm, author and painter Sarah Easter Collins will be coming to The Bookery in conversation with author and harpist Hazel Prior.
Ms Prior will be matching pieces of music to passages from Ms Easter Collins’ book Things Don’t Break On Their Own, which has been nominated for an Edgar Award in the best novel category.
The next event will take place on Tuesday, April 8 at 3.30pm. Debut novelist Ebberley Finch will be speaking at the bookshop in conversation with author Hazel Hatman.
They will discuss the difficulty first-time authors face getting a book published.
Ms Finch’s debut novel is entitled Lock, Stock and Harold. Ms Hatman’s first novel was The Darcy Dilemma, the start of the Sisters of Larkford Hall series of romantic novels.
On Tuesday, April 22 at 3.30pm enthusiastic walker Les Bright will be leading a discussion on woods, water and wilderness using John Hayward’s Dartmoor 365.
“The Bookery is excited to continue its program of free afternoon author events across March and April,” a spokesperson said.
“These will be held in the community link room at The Bookery, open to all, free tea and biscuits are provided.
“What better way to enjoy a spring afternoon than joining these authors discussing their books.”
The Bookery has been community-owned since 2013. It has nearly 500 individual shareholders following a recent community share offer.
