CREDITON Area History and Museum Society (CAHMS) is seeking stories and mementos of life on the Home Front in the local area during the Second World War.

It comes as part of plans to commemorate the end of the war in 1945 with an exhibition at Crediton Museum.

CAHMS is keen to hear stories about relatives joining the armed forces, local people signing up for organisations such as the Home Guard and Women’s Land Army, about rationing, blackouts, evacuees and more.

It also wants to hear memories of the British Restaurant in Crediton, as well as when a bomb dropped near the parish church causing a “surprising” amount of damage.

You can share stories, photos and other keepsakes with CAHMS by emailing [email protected].

Alternatively, you can go along to one of its show-and-tell sessions at the museum on Thursday, February 6 and Saturday, February 8 between 11am and 2pm each day.
