A VARIETY of Christmas-themed events are coming up in the local area.

Late night shopping evenings have been taking place in Crediton every Friday in November until 7.30pm, or later at some venues.

Featuring food stalls, local musicians and other entertainment, they will continue on Friday, November 22 and Friday, November 29.

A Christmas bingo is to be held at Hayward’s Primary School in Crediton on Tuesday, November 26.

It costs £7 to take part, which includes a full book and two flyers. Doors open at 7pm for eyes down at 7.30pm. There will also be a Christmas draw and refreshments at the event.

On Saturday, November 30, Crediton’s Christmas lights will be switched on.

The event will take place from 1pm to 6pm with the switch-on at 5pm.

There will be lots of food stalls and entertainment, including a chance to see Santa in his grotto for free.

Also on Saturday, November 30, a Christmas fair will be held at Morchard Bishop Memorial Hall.

It will take place from 2pm to 4pm and feature mulled wine, refreshments, stalls, games and a chance to meet Father Christmas. Entry is free.

Again on Saturday, November 30, Sampford Courtenay Christmas Cheer will be happening from 1pm to 4pm.

There will be Christmas stalls and refreshments at the Church Bazaar in the Church Rooms, as well as pony sleigh rides for £1 per person, a chance to see donkeys, and an opportunity to visit Santa Claus in the Magic Grotto for £5 per person.

Again on Saturday, November 30, there will be the Devon YFC Christmas Fayre.

It will take place from 1pm to 4pm at the Rural Hub in Cheriton Bishop.

There will be local gifts and crafts, a raffle and festive refreshments.

Later, there will be a Christmas bingo and raffle at Crediton Rugby Club on Thursday, December 5 in aid of Pippin’s Pre-School and Nursery and Kidz Star Club.

Doors open at 6.45pm for eyes down at 7.30pm.

Landscore Primary School in Crediton will be holding its “Christmas Cracker” on Saturday, December 7.

It will take place in the school hall from 2pm to 4pm.

There will be snowball fights, a chance to paint your own Christmas ornament, a Christmas-themed bouncy castle, refreshments including mulled wine and mince pies, games and a raffle prize draw.

On the same day, Saturday, December 7, Tedburn St Mary will hold its Christmas market.

It will take place from 1pm to 4pm in Tedburn Village Hall.

There will stalls, a cafe and a chance to visit Santa’s grotto between 2pm and 3pm.

All proceeds from the event will go to Devon Air Ambulance.
