ON Tuesday, November 12, Crediton Boniface Rotary presented Alan Quick with its award for Crediton Citizen of the Year.
Rotary president, Fred Oliver said: “Alan was the unanimous choice reflecting the enormous amount of work that he puts in to ensuring the continued success of the Crediton Courier.
“The newspaper is an essential noticeboard for all that is happening in the Crediton area, both online and in print.”
Mr Oliver thanked Alan for all the work he puts in every week to produce the paper and presented him with a plaque to be held for a year, and a permanent certificate.
In addition, a cheque for £50 will be sent to Crediton Town Council Youth Service, a charity chosen by Alan.
Alan started with the Courier on work experience more than 40 years ago.
He has been editor and sports editor for the past 20 years.
The Rotary Citizen of the Year Award has been presented annually for almost 30 years.
Fred pointed out that Sue Read, the previous editor of the Courier, was a recipient in 2017.
On December 5 the Courier will be publishing a special anniversary issue in print and online to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
