CREDITON Congregational Church is set to hold a charity concert in aid of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. 

It will take place on Saturday, July 20 from 7.30pm and feature Crediton Strummers and the Mid Devon Good Afternoon Choir. 

The choir is led by Jon Rawles with over 30 enthusiastic members who are busy preparing their programme for the concert.

The Good Afternoon Choirs were started by Bath-based Grenville 14 years ago and there are now more than 30 across the South West of England and London with over 1,200 members “Singing in the Afternoon”.

There are no auditions to join and members of the Mid Devon Good Afternoon Choir come from in and around the area, they meet every Tuesday afternoon from 2pm-4pm at Crediton Congregational Church. Everyone is welcome to go along and meet Jon and the members of the choir.

The special guests for the concert will be the Crediton Strummers, who perform a range of genres of pop, rock, country, folk - nothing is off limits and with guitars, ukuleles, mandolins, harmonicas and squeezeboxes all get pressed into service.

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People is a charity that trains dogs to alert deaf people to important – and potentially lifesaving – sounds they would otherwise miss, such as smoke alarms, alarm clocks and even a baby's cry. 

Doors will open at 7pm.
