IT is incredible to note the number of composers who have taken stories from the Bible to write incredibly moving pieces of music.

All too often it is the music that carries the story along and then it is the individual songs that get played that help to enhance the shows popularity.

"I Don’t Know How to Love Him" from "Jesus Christ Superstar" or "The Pharaoh’s Song" from "Joseph and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat" are two that readily spring to mind.

I clearly remember years back after one of the CODS performances of Jesus Christ Superstar a member of our audience saying that they had enjoyed a thoroughly great evening.

That same person had loved the music and really enjoyed our performances but didn’t really understand the story!

This is the strength of musical theatre. An audience member comes to be entertained and if the mood created is right then the theme of the story can sometimes be irrelevant.

"Children of Eden" is written by Stephen Schwartz who also wrote "Wicked", "The Baker’s Wife" and "Godspell".

“Wicked” is not yet released for amateur groups so CODS is performing the other work available to them.

Having taken the lead in "Sister Act” two years ago, Buffy May is returning on stage to play Eve in Act One and Mrs Noah in Act Two.

Many of our audiences sit in awe when Buffy is on stage and the songs she performs in this show are able to let her explore the complete range of her voice, so once again you will not be disappointed.

Tickets are priced £15 for adults, £12.50 for concessions and £10 for Under 16s and are available either by clicking on the Box Office link on the CODS website: www.codsonline.com  or by emailing Mike Canning direct on: [email protected] .

The show takes place at QE's Barnfield campus from Monday, April 10 to Saturday, April 15, with performances starting at 7.30pm each evening.
