THERE was dancing in the aisles at Crediton Parish Church on Sunday, May 5 when the Crediton Church Music Endowment Fund hosted the jazz band the Hayne House Hot 5 led by Tim Herniman.

The name was deceiving as organiser Penny Pearkes explained that she could see seven musicians in total!

Penny added: “The evening was a relaxed affair, with sultry lighting, which inspired a few of the spectators to get to their feet and dance in the aisles, quite spontaneously!

“It was a great atmosphere.  Food was cooked, served and donated by Eran of the Baobab Café.

“We had delicious chicken lightly spiced and served with very tasty rice, coleslaw and a vegetable dish.

“What a treat! – all this was included in the ticket price and a great evening was had by those who attended.  We made around £700.

“The musicians and Baobab Café are happily offering their services again next year, so don’t miss out next time.”
