A CHRISTMAS Concert with the Crediton Singers held at Crediton Methodist Church on Sunday, December 10, saw a good crowd attending.
"It was a huge success," reports Diane Cummings of the Crediton Singers.
"At this time of year, with the busy schedule of concerts, events, carol singing and church services, it's a gamble putting on a concert. But 75 people came along to our Christmas community concert and we got some great feedback."
The chosen charity, Prostate Cancer Research, will receive £300 thanks to the generosity of audience members.
Those in attendance were treated to seasonal music including Faith Hill's "Where Are You Christmas", the traditional favourite "O Holy Night", Philip Stopford's modern anthem "A Child Is Born In Bethlehem" and "Once Upon A December" from the Disney film "Anastasia".
Tim Matthews produced a wonderful performance of Bela Bartok's "Romanian Christmas Carols" for piano, which he dedicated to the family of one of his pupils whose grandmother is currently very ill in Bucharest.
"I think we're doing very well at the moment," added Diane. "We're singing a wide range of music, right across the board, that appeals to singers and audiences.
"We're very down to earth and I think people appreciate that. We're getting regular enquiries from potential recruits so I think that our Christmas offering has set us up nicely for 2024."
The choir extends its greetings to all for a wonderful New Year.
