A CREDITON pub with planning permission for redevelopment has sold at auction with a sale price of £223,000.

The Kings Arms in Park Street has planning approval for conversion into five homes with two bedrooms each plus outdoor space and cycle stores.

It was among the lots in the sixth auction of 2022 by the regional land and property auctioneers Clive Emson with a freehold guide of £210,000 to £230,000.

Senior auction appraiser Dave Henwood said: “This well-known pub has ample accommodation over three floors, including staff quarters.

“The new owner has various options, including continued use as a pub or some similar venture following refurbishment.

“However, they may well wish to follow the planning permission for residential development or another scheme could be considered subject to the necessary consents.”

The double-fronted pub includes bars, a skittle alley, snooker room, kitchen, cellars, store rooms, three bedrooms, living room and study. The staff accommodation includes a kitchen, WC, shower, bedroom and living room.
