THE newly-refurbished Crediton Post Office was officially opened by the Mayor of Crediton, Cllr Frank Letch, MBE and was attended by a number of Post Office managers and representatives, as well as members of the public.

The new postmaster, Andrew Bayley took over the running of Crediton Post Office when Chris Schnepp retired on November 4.

Andrew, who is a local man, also runs Holsworthy Post Office, which has already been refurbished as part of the Post Office Network Transformation.

He will be working at the Crediton Post Office to begin with, where members of staff have remained the same.

Actor John Nettles OBE, who cut the ribbon last year at Holsworthy Post Office, sent Andrew a good-luck message: “I’m off up country filming ‘Poldark’ until Christmas time, so can’t see you in your splendid new Post Office in Crediton, but may I wish you every success over there - you are surely missed in Holsworthy!”

At the opening the mayor, Frank Letch MBE, said: “The Post Office look great – modern, professional and welcoming and the Saturday afternoon opening will really benefit local residents and businesses.”

“We are delighted to have an enthusiastic young Postmaster, Andrew Bayley, who has already made a major investment to the store.”

Postmaster Andrew Bayley, said: “Customers think the Post Office and store look excellent and they love the modern, bright look.”

Crediton Post Office still offers the same products and services, but in a more modern and convenient environment with the addition of a range of stationery.

The new-style main branch provides postal services from three modern counters – one screened and two open-plan.

The branch is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5.30pm.
