ON Saturday, February 10, from 10.15am to lunchtime, Crediton Parish Church is holding a “Be a Chorister" day.
Though the choir has continued in recent years to attract individual new youngsters, this is the first time since Covid that it has had an open morning to give a wider opportunity to potential choristers to see what it is like.
Those attending will have the chance to meet other choristers, learn and perform some music, and enjoy a fun morning with lunch to round it off.
There will even be a chance to see (and play on!) the church’s impressive organ.
Though the normal minimum age is seven, the choir stresses that it welcomes children of all ages.
Previous singing experience is not expected; choristers receive a first rate musical training following the much respected Royal School of Church Music model.
Religious beliefs are not a requirement; the only criterion is enthusiasm for singing!
The event is free but please let Jon Rawles, the Director of Music, know you intend to go along by emailing him at: [email protected] .
