TRICIA Sail, winner of this year’s “Race across the World” was the guest speaker at the Boniface Centre in Crediton on Friday, September 8.
Tricia talked about her experiences with her friend Cathie on their journey racing across Canada with a limited budget.
The TV programme kept viewers on the edge of their seats as contestants found their way from Vancouver to Newfoundland.
Tricia came to Crediton to support the Crediton Talking News, which is delivered weekly to local visually impaired listeners.
Admission was free-of-charge but there was a raffle and voluntary donations were welcomed.
Peter Bryan, of Crediton Talking News said: “It was indeed an excellent and memorable evening enjoyed by all who were there. Indeed the hall was almost full with only a few seats left.
“Trish is a remarkable lady having overcome sight loss in a truly inspirational way.
“Donations and the raffle amounted to £402 and has been equally shared between RNIB and the Talking News.
“Thanks to the ‘Crediton Courier’ for the support and coverage and to Crediton Lions Club for sponsorship of the event.”
