THE British Red Cross charity shop on Crediton High Street is celebrating its 25th birthday this year.
Shop manager, Wendy Archer has worked there since the shop opened.
Wendy said: “I’ve seen a lot of changes in the past 25 years.
“I would like to thank both past and present volunteers and customers for their support.”
Celebrations have included an end of season sale in the shop and staff and volunteers got together for a celebration evening.
The shop stocks a range of ladies and mens clothing and accessories as well as books and media - a good selection of Christmas cards has just arrived.
The shop at 125 High Street, also runs a loyalty card scheme with a gift voucher reward when enough has been accumulated and 25 per cent goes to the charity if Gift Aid is used.
Shops are a major source of income for the Red Cross, as well as being the charity’s most visible presence in many towns and villages.
The money they receive is spent on charitable activities, such as crisis response, refugee support and international work. It is also spent on fundraising and retail, as well as on support costs such as human resources, IT, central management, finance and governance.
People can support the British Red Cross shops by donating or by volunteering to help support the work they do at both a local and international level.
