MID Devon District Council has cheered its strong waste-collection performance after just a tiny proportion of bins were missed in a six-month period.
Cllr Luke Taylor (Liberal Democrat, Bradninch), the council’s leader, welcomed the authority hitting “stretching targets for waste and recycling”.
The council said it had only missed 0.03 per cent of bin collections between April and September, and that its recycling rate is now close to 60 per cent.
Cllr Simon Clist (Liberal Democrat, Upper Culm) said hitting the target is “very good considering the tourist trade during the summer.
“I also don’t think I have had an email from a resident about a missed bin or recycling collection for over 18 months,” he said.
