SEVENTY new “affordable” homes are being built at Post Hill on the eastern edge of Tiverton.

It comes after Mid Devon District Council sold land with planning permission for the development to house builder Allison Homes and housing association LiveWest.

All of the new homes will be classed as “affordable”, that is, 80 per cent of the market rate. They will have either one, two, three or four bedrooms.

The first homes will be ready to be lived in by “late summer” next year, the council said.

LiveWest Assistant Director of New Business Caroline Hughes added: “The development will also deliver a large area of public open space and a children’s play area.

“Details on how to apply for the homes will be released in due course.”
