A THIRD Sector Awareness Event, to showcase what is available to help improve the lives of older people living in the local area, was held at Crediton Hospital.
The steering group, which organised the event, was made up of local professionals from; Age Concern, Neighbourhood Friends, Upstream and The Alzheimers Society. Other local charities and initiatives were represented at the event, such as, Devon In Sight, Wisermoney, Devon Carers, Crediton Dementia Alliance and Crediton Community Transport.
The range of services offered by these organisations includes social and creative groups; post hospital support; volunteer visitors; day care; transport; financial advice; and services for the visually impaired.
The event was well attended by GP practice managers, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and mental health workers.
It is hoped that this event can be repeated in the future, to help hospital and GP practice staff to keep-up-to date with the array of support for older people in the local community.
