SANDFORD Area Community Action (SACA) is a small charity that exists to accept profits from Sandford Stores and then distribute the funds to local projects.

The trustees decide on the proposals to consider.

The shop has been a lifeline for many during the pandemic and has made a profit during 2020 enabling it to donate almost £5,000 to SACA, who in turn will give grants to local worthy causes.

The SACA trustees considered three bids at last month’s Zoom meeting.

Sandford Football club received £250 towards new nets.

The Newbuildings Defibrillator Project received £400 towards the installation of a defibrillator in their redundant phone box.

And SACA donated £2,000 towards the Beacon Project to build a kitchen and toilet in the Beacon Church so that it can offer community use.

All three donations will benefit the local community.
