CHILDREN from Yellow Class at Copplestone Primary School walked to The Plant Shed at Dulings Farm with their teacher Catherine Carroll, two teaching assistants and two parents.
The owner of The Plant Shed, James Edwards gave the children a talk on what plants are for.
The children are currently reading Michael Morpurgo’s "Where My Wellies Take Me’" and the visit linked in with this.
James talked about using plants for food and passed around a variety of plants for the children to look at. They were able to rub the leaves to smell scents from plants such as Lemon Verbena and a Curry Plant. They also looked at and talked about strawberry plants and the fruits they produce.
The children then did some drawings of their favourite plants and enjoyed a picnic before returning to school.
