AN event being held at Upton Pyne this month is a day designed for anyone wanting to know more about caring for your eyes and ears; sight and hearing problems and dementia-awareness.
Richard Shaker, RNIB (Royal National Institute of Blind people) community contact facilitator for the South West, will be talking about caring for your sight and hearing and explaining what help is available if you have problems.
Speaker Vickie Mills, from Waitrose, is a volunteer with the Alzheimer’s Society Dementia Friends programme - the biggest ever initiative to change people’s perception of dementia.
It aims to transform the way the nation thinks, acts and talks about the condition.
Dementia Friends is about learning more about dementia and the small ways you can help.
Both talks will include a question and answer session.
The event will take place on Saturday, May 11 and will run from 10.30am to 3.30pm.
Free tea and coffee will be provided but please take along a packed lunch.
Tickets cost £4 and are available from Phoebe Taverner on 01392 840146.
