DEVON and Cornwall Police has announced the appointment of Mark Arthurs as the new Police Sector Inspector for Mid Devon.

The Force says he brings with him a wealth of policing experience and plans to deliver a common-sense approach to solving issues that affect communities in the area.

He joined Devon and Cornwall Police in 2005 and has mainly served the Exeter, East and Mid Devon areas, as well as carrying out spells of service in South Devon and at Force headquarters.

Mark said: “I am committed to and have a passion for Neighbourhood Policing, having undertaken this area of policing at previous ranks.

“I am fast approaching two decades with Devon and Cornwall Police and I previously covered the role of Mid Devon Sector Inspector back in 2020.

I am very happy to be back here, serving the community. I believe Mid Devon is a very safe place to live and I chose to raise my family here. I am invested in the Mid Devon area both professionally and in my personal life, as I also volunteer in connection with young people within the local community.

“I plan to deliver a common-sense approach to solving issues that affect our community. I aim to tackle anti-social behaviour and crimes that make people feel unsafe but to do this I need the community’s help too.

“If you are experiencing ASB (anti-social behaviour) or have been a victim of crime and haven’t already contacted the police please do so via our website. Your information helps shape our policing response to these problems so we need to know where our areas of focus should be.”

If anyone has information they don’t feel comfortable sharing with the police they can report it anonymously to independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555111 or visit the website: www.crimestoppers-uk.org .

Inspector Arthurs continued: “My officers and staff regularly hold informal police surgeries in high footfall areas in the larger towns within Mid Devon, where residents can drop by for advice or guidance from their local policing teams.

“We are also fortunate to have the Public Enquiry Office at Tiverton Police Station, where people can have face to face advice or report an incident or crime.

“I look forward to working with partner agencies in the local area to provide a more efficient response to public concerns and I look forward to meeting members of the public out and about in the community soon.”

Local events coming up in Mid Devon include an on-street police drop-in event at Newcombes, Crediton in the vicinity of Clifford Gardens on Thursday, March 28 between 5.30pm and 6.30pm.

Police will also be at Station Road, Newton St Cyres, in the vicinity of Kingfisher Close on Wednesday, April 3, between 10.30am and 11.30am.
