THOUSANDS of people went along to the Mid Devon Show on Saturday, July 27.

Held at Knightshayes Court near Tiverton, there was a wide variety of attractions, stalls, local food and there were accolades aplenty for local farmers.

Cloudy with sunny spells, the weather was much improved compared to last year’s deluge which left organisers with a £30,000 loss.

Children enjoyed running with the hounds in the main ring, where there was also a vintage tractor parade, sheep dog display, Shetland pony racing, a stunt show and more.

Patrons enjoyed food and drink from local producers including Exe Valley Farm Shop, Quicke’s and Sandford Orchards, and live music from various bands on stage.

Local farmer John May of Priorton Barton, Crediton, took the Champion Devon title with his two-and-a-half-year-old bull Priorton Yeoman.

Show Organiser Colin Nation praised the 250 volunteers who helped put on the event, which he said attracts people “from all over the country”.
