A MID Devon cyclist has been taken to hospital and is in a critical condition and the male driver of a car arrested following a crash on the A38 westbound between Plympton and Plymouth.
Emergency services were called to the scene at about 2.50am this morning, Wednesday, June 21.
Police said that the cyclist was a man in his 40’s. He was taken to Derriford Hospital.
The motorist, also a man in his 40s, from the Plymouth area, remains in custody, police confirmed.
Due to the nature of the incident, the A38 was closed westbound between Plympton and Plymouth.
The road remained closed until 12 noon to allow police to complete on-scene investigations.
National Highways have said all lanes of the road are now reopened.
