FIRE crews from Hatherleigh, Okehampton and Witheridge fought a kitchen fire in a domestic property at Wembworthy, near Chulmleigh, yesterday evening, Wednesday, February 12.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service was called to attend at 6.23pm.

To put out the blaze the firefighters used four sets of breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, one safety jet and roof ladders.

They also used a thermal image camera to check the fire was out.

There was 20 per cent fire damage and 50 per cent smoke damage to the property. The cause of the fire was reported to be accidental.

The crews left the scene at 10.28pm.
