CREDITON firefighters have helped put out a blaze in a large two-storey derelict building.
The fire service was called to the scene in Northam just after 12.30am on Thursday, March 13.
When the first crews arrived, they found the property “well alight” and called for backup.
A total of six fire engines and an aerial ladder platform were mobilised from local fire stations along with the water bowser and command support unit.
Crews tackled the blaze, which was breaking through the roof, with three main jets and the aerial ladder.
Firefighters were still at the scene monitoring hotspots at 10am. The fire was eventually extinguished by 1pm.
Firefighters from Barnstaple, Ilfracombe, Appledore, Bideford, Hartland, Torrington and Crediton fire stations fought the blaze.
