DEVON and Cornwall Police were notified at around 11pm on Monday, August 28 to reports that a man had been assaulted in Exeter City Centre.
Ambulance Services were alerted, and officers were in immediate attendance.
The victim was taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital with serious injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
Officers carried out intensive searches of the area and made two arrests; a 37-year-old man of no fixed abode and a 34-year-old man of no fixed abode were arrested on suspicion of GBH.
Four more people have since been arrested; a 44-year-old man, a 34-year-old man, a 32-year-old man and a 26-year-old man, all of no fixed abode, have been arrested on suspicion of GBH.
