SEVENTEEN Sixth Form students from Queen Elizabeth’s School in Crediton completed their Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expedition in Snowdonia at the end of August.

They have been congratulated on their achievement by one of the school’s Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme team and maths teacher John Wright.

He added: “They hiked to the top of Mount Snowdon before independently undertaking a four-day expedition in challenging conditions. “Despite heavy wind and rain and no lack of hills, the three teams showed great resilience, skill, strength and humour to successfully get to the finish. Well done all!”

In 2016 QE became a D of E licensed organisation and offers the Bronze award to Year 9, the Silver award to Year 10 and the Gold award for Sixth Form students.

At QE, the number of students participating in the D of E award is one of the highest in the county.
