CREDITON firefighters helped tackle a large blaze at a recycling centre in Greendale Business Park on Tuesday, September 24.
The fire service was called to the scene just after 1.20am.
Crews from Exeter Middlemoor and Clyst St George were sent immediately and more stations were dispatched through the night.
Relief crews from Exmouth, Sidmouth, Crediton and Bovey Tracey were sent to the business park to take over from 6.30am.
As much as 12 tonnes of mixed non-hazardous waste and another 12 tonnes of cardboard inside a 30-metre by 40-metre building were involved in the fire.
Local residents and businesses were advised to keep their doors and windows shut.
As many as 10 different fire stations were called out to fight the fire in total. They were Torquay, Bovey Tracey, Exeter Danes Castle, Crediton, Cullompton, Honiton, Sidmouth, Exeter Middlemoor, Clyst St George and Bridgwater.
Greendale Business Park is located off the A3052 Sidmouth Road near Woodbury Salterton.
