THIS weekend saw the annual Mid Devon Foursomes competition.  

Eighteen holes were played at Downes Crediton on Saturday, May 18 followed by 18 holes at Okehampton on Sunday, May 19.  

The winners of the scratch over 36 holes were Jack Whiteway and Lee Carey with 59 points. In second place were Barry Down and Matt Soby with 58 points.  

The winners of the handicap over 36 holes were Adrian Gage and Trevor Paul with 74 points. In second place were Toby Gostling and Redd Cann with 72 points.   

The best scratch mixed pairing was won by Alan Lawrence and Lynn Hazelton with 58 points and in second were Stewart Cowling and Shirley Stunnel with 57 points.   

Best single sex over 36 holes were Lee Cockwill and Graham Dayment with 68 points after count back from in second Robin Abrahams and Pete Denford also with 68 points.  

The winners of the best scratch over 18 holes at Downes Crediton were Ken Bones and Matt Arnold with 29 points and the winners of the handicap were Jason and Archie Weeks with 38 points.   

Okehampton scratch winners over 18 holes were Chris Hurley and Adam Cook with 28 points and the best handicap went to Jerry Thornton and Mike Charnock with 35 points. 

The ladies section played an individual stableford competition with the top two from each division going on to represent the club in the Warren Crocus later in the year. 

This resulted in Penny Deakin with 35 points and Frances Harbron with 30 points going through in division one and Clare Salter with 29 points and Lin Atkinson with 28 points representing division two.
