LACE up your running shoes and join the hundreds of people running in the Exeter Live Better Marathon and Community Five Mile Race next weekend.
Whether you fancy 26.2 miles or five miles, there’s still time to sign up for the event which takes place from the Piazza on Exeter Quay on Sunday, May 12.
Organised by Exeter City Community Trust, the event aims to promote health, fitness, and community engagement while also raising vital funds for charities in the Exeter area.
Jamie Vittles, chief executive of Exeter City Community Trust, said: "We have hundreds of people training hard in the lead up to the event, ready to take to the paths alongside the River Exe on May 12.
“The event not only encourages physical activity but also fosters a sense of camaraderie and unity among participants and there’s still time to enter!
“We’d encourage shorter distance runners to join the Community Five Mile, it’s a fantastic atmosphere and a chance to run in one of the most beautiful areas of our city.”
Exeter City Community Trust gives free places to its partner charities, who this year are Exeter Leukaemia Fund, Children’s Hospice South West, Alright Mate? CIC and Julian House.
In addition to supporting local charities, participants also have the opportunity to raise funds for the Exeter City Community Trust's own initiatives, from its Supported Housing project, for people at risk of homelessness, to its growing range of parasports activities.
The charity’s running events are supported by main sponsor Tozers LLP, and community partners Exeter Live Better, Radio Exe, Trowers and Hamlins and the ILEC Group, as well as many other local businesses.
Jamie added: “Thank you to all of our sponsors, their contribution means we can offer more support to our community and we can offer an even better experience for our runners.”
