HOW can we make keeping fit fun?
Walking rugby is exercise that develops agility and thinking skills by activities and playing games using a rugby ball, at a walking pace.
There are no bone-crunching tackles or head-banging scrums.
Men and women play together and it’s an activity for all ages that requires no previous involvement with rugby.
It is popular with those who have retired and want to keep active, those who want to improve their fitness and is used by those returning to sports from injury or as an out of season activity.
Martin Rich explained: “It's a fast-growing pastime with many rugby clubs and other activity groups running sessions.
'It’s a good way to meet new people and make friends.
“At Crediton Rugby Club (EX17 1EP) we hold one-hour sessions on Tuesday and Friday evenings, meeting at the clubhouse at 6.30pm.

“Our participants are drawn from a wide area around Crediton.
“We have members who are held together by elastic supports, kept going by spare parts and have a variety of other impairments, so you don’t have to be ‘fully functioning’ to join in the fun. We have sessions with other clubs, play in tournaments and enjoy several social activities.
“Come and give us a try; you don’t need kit, just some loose-fitting clothes and suitable footwear; you don’t have to commit to playing regularly. We play all year round, weather permitting; but summer is a good time to explore the game.
“Just turn up at a session or come and watch if you prefer.”
