THE public was able to watch a very special rugby match in Crediton on Sunday, February 21.

The occasion was a fundraising charity match featuring England Deaf v Ide Select Fifteen at Crediton Rugby Football Club beginning at 2.30pm.

Many people went along to watch the action.

England Deaf were the winners 12-5 after a very even game.

Earlier the same day, England Deaf Rugby offered taster sessions for boys, girls, men and women, deaf and hearing people and members of local clubs to go along and enjoy the sport of rugby together.

Members of the England Deaf Men and Women’s teams and coaches were there to introduce people to the sport of rugby if they were new to the game.

The taster sessions were held at Queen Elizabeth’s School Barnfield campus and were supported by Exeter Royal Academy for Deaf Education.

Special thanks went to Crediton RFC for hosting the events and Wayne Reed, community rugby coach.
