Crediton Thirds 41 - Exeter Saracens Seconds 24
BOTH Crediton Thirds and Exeter Saracens Seconds made light work of Storm Darragh. It was a very wet and windy afternoon, with very few games being played.
It was a great credit to the ground staff to ensure the pitch was playable.
We made sure we were up for the challenge of facing yet another Second XV team and, with the wind behind them, it was Sarries that held the upper hand in the first half scoring three tries and looking in good form.
However, the Kirton lads pulled together and started playing to the conditions and keeping the ball tight and going through the phases to get us up the pitch and score two tries!
However, once again the Thirds found themselves behind at the interval, 19 points to 10 and having to play “catch up” in the second half.
With some fresh legs and a wind behind us we really stepped up a level scoring five tries as the backs came into the game.
However Sarries managed to force their way over for another to earn a try bonus point!
The strong running Tariq Sayers and Tom O’Donnell got themselves two tries each.
Joe Warren and Paul Ratchford got one each and also the ever improving Lewis Cook capped a man of the match performance with a try.
It was a tough day all round but the boys put in a 100 per cent effort to grind out a fantastic win to retain top spot in the Merit Table.
Many thanks go to the Sarries for braving the elements and their part in a fantastic game of local rugby and we look forward to the return fixture at their ground next weekend!
