Crediton Thirds 62 - Tiverton Thirds 0

AFTER the narrow defeat at Barnstaple last week, Crediton RFC Thirds bounced back in style with a 62 point whitewashing of our friends from Tiverton Thirds.

They struggled to get a side together and arrived with 14 but of course as always the Thirds did the honourable thing and loaned them the additional player and credit to Travis Baker who played all game for them.

The defeat at Barnstaple brought them within a couple of points and the pressure on the Thirds to keep hold of top spot was growing.

It was not all one way traffic as the scoreline might suggest, Tivvy battled it out and had their moments in attack but defensively, we were pretty solid and kept our line intact throughout the game.

Tom O’Donnell, on weekend leave from the Army relished his break and led the charge with three tries leaving the opposition defenders in his wake.

Joe Warren came on for the second half and bagged a brace of tries, both from clever chip, chase, gather and score – sounds simple doesn’t it!

There was a try apiece for Kevin Ellis, Ben Rodd, Ashley Bradnock, Tom Cooper with a special mention for the ever-improving Victor Oldland whose man of the match performance was crowned with his first senior try, congratulations Victor, you have earned that.

Tom Cooper added three conversions and Owen Cooper two with Joe Crocker celebrating his birthday with a conversion.

Many thanks to Tiverton for making the effort to honour the fixture as we know they had issues with injuries and we wish them all the best for the rest of the season!
