PUPILS from 11 local primary schools entered the Crediton Learning Community Primary Schools Swimming Gala, which took place at Lords Meadow Leisure Centre Pool on Wednesday, January 29.

Lots of cheering and enjoyment by more than 100 competitors resulted in last year’s runners up Newton St Cyres winning and last year’s winners Landscore coming second, Hayward’s were a close third with Thorverton coming fourth.

During the event 11 Years 7 and 8 Queen Elizabeth School (QE) students, who are members of Crediton and District Swimming Club, each assisted one of the primary schools to ensure the competitors arrived at the correct place at the correct time.

This assistance was greatly appreciated by the primary school staff.

The event has taken place annually for the past 20 years and has been co-ordinated by Peter Brewer on behalf of QE during this time with vital help from the Crediton and District Swimming Club providing timekeepers, poolside helpers and scorers.
