THE new season at Creedy Lakes fishery near Crediton season kicked off this morning, Friday, March 1, at 5.30am.

Due to another mild winter during the lake closure period, Creedy Lakes has, once again, been able to maintain a good winter feeding programme for the fish.

Sandra Turner explained: “Ideally this should maintain the fish winter weight and also keep them searching and expecting bait daily.

“At the moment the water colour is good with fish currently surfacing and actively leaping whilst cleaning their gills.  Water action is certainly looking promising and should kick the season off to a good start, lines crossed!

“This year we have once again cut back the overgrowth on the islands and also hedge trimmed around the lake and cleared the overhanging trees of line, hooks and leads and the paths have been coated.

“The lake water level is high and the inflow volume is good.”

Sandra added that there has been no change in lake rules or regulations but reminds all anglers that day ticket anglers must arrive AFTER 4am which will allow people who are staying on site to get some shut eye.

Also she says, if you are planning to stay overnight you MUST arrive on site by 12 midnight and also telephone to let Creedy Lakes know your expected time of arrival.

Prices are as last year: Day ticket three rods 5.30am-11pm £18, with one or two rods £12.

Evening ticket three rods, 5pm-11pm £9, with one or two rods £6.

Sandra added: “We look forward to welcoming everyone again soon on the banks at Creedy for the new 2019 season.  We are also still honouring any free tickets given out last season but just not for use on the first day please.  Happy angling! … from all at Creedy Lakes”.
