AFTER making waves through its swimming lesson programme, Mid Devon Leisure, which runs leisure centres in Mid Devon on behalf of Mid Devon District Council has been nominated for the "STAr Swim Academy" aquatic excellence award.
The shortlisting, awarded by STA (The Swimming Teachers’ Association), showcases the service’s achievements in its delivering learn to swim programmes and aquatics training over the past twelve months, in line with STA’s charity objectives.
Mid Devon Leisure offers a comprehensive lesson programme from four months to adults, providing 310 lessons per week to more than 2,300 swimmers.
Mid Devon Leisure aims to not only teach swimming, but a variety of aquatic disciplines to anyone, regardless of ability or age in a fun, safe environment.
Councillor David Wulff, Cabinet Member for Community and Leisure, said: “A huge thank you to our fantastic team of Swimming Instructors!
"This shortlisting is recognition for their tireless work to provide such an amazing Learn to Swim programme.”
The winners will be announced at a presentation ceremony tomorrow, Friday, October 13 at STA’s national conference in Leicester, which will be jointly hosted by record breaking 4x Paralympic gold medallist swimmer Marc Woods and Ali Beckman, STA’s President.
