ON Sunday, October 17, approximately 350 individual cyclists are riding a 55-mile route which starts and ends at Tedburn St Mary Football Club.

The event, the FORCE Autumn Storm Bike Ride 2021, will see gates open from 7.15am for parking, and cyclists will depart from 8am in batches through until 8.45am.

The charity says that the route has been chosen to limit the impact on other road users.

It will go west from Tedburn via Cheriton Bishop to Yeoford. It will then head to Morchard Road, left to Winkleigh, across to Broadwoodkelly, through Monkokehampton, on to Okehampton and through Whiddon Down before heading back to Tedburn St Mary.

Where possible, cycle network routes have been utilised.

Special signs will be posted to warn motorists at appropriate points along the route and will be removed afterwards.

In addition, adequate first aid coverage and cycle recovery teams will also be on patrol.  Two rest stops will be established en-route.

The organisers say that past experience suggests that all cyclists will be back by 4pm.

They add that the event is a charity ride, explaining that it is NOT a race and is NOT timed in any way.
