THERE is delight at more medals for Heart of Devon Swords athletes at the Gloucestershire 2024 Sabre Championships, which took place on January 27.

Jojo Yang earned Silver in the under-18s category and Bronze overall, while Chiyuan took under-18s Bronze and came fifth overall. 

At Devon's 2024 Junior Championships in Exeter on January 21, there were seven County medals for Heart of Devon fencers.

They were won in a range of age groups from the under 9s to the under 17s. 

Boys U17 Gold: Jojo Yang. Boys U17 Silver: Chiyuan Sun.  Girls U15 Gold: Tabitha Sparkes. Girls U13 Gold: Sophia Castro. Boys U11 Gold: Henrique Castro. Boys U11 Silver: Fin Sparkes.  Boys U9 Gold: Oliver Martin. 

Jason Ball, Heart of Devon coach, said: "I'm delighted by our fencers, taking on new challenges and doing well against far more experienced players!"

Heart of Devon Swords was established in 2022 and training sessions take place at Lords Meadow Leisure Centre, Crediton.
