CREDITON Youth Football Club girls and boys enjoyed an exciting day trip to Plymouth Argyle on Saturday, April 23 which was aimed at the mid-age squads with the main focus on under 10s and 11s.
Following the short journey to Plymouth we arrived with great excitement and together with Al and his team at Plymouth Community our experience commenced with a full tour of all areas of Home Park, from changing rooms with all the kit laid out to seeing Pele’s bench in the away changing room.
The boys and girls were all taking photographs and asking questions and really getting into the set-up and facilities from directors box to boardroom. We then moved over to Plymouth Life Centre for an hour of football training with Plymouth Argyle coaches, this was quite a challenge for coaches as we had 45 players!
We were then starting the build up to match but we did have time to squeeze in a visit to the club shop which sadly had launched a new product, an Arygle horn, which a few of our boys decided to purchase.
Then we moved into the stadium and the boys and girls found the Argyle family area where they had opportunity to play computers picking their fantasy teams together with table tennis and lots more.
The game itself was not what we expected, with Plymouth losing to Dagenham and Redbridge, a side who were already relegated. But some of our coaches and players who were Exeter fans did seem in good spirit. We then headed back home with plenty of children singing and chanting various melodies along with our horn accompaniment!
Everyone had an incredible day and with impeccable behaviour throughout which was mentioned by Arygle staff. It was a pleasure as one of the coaches to take the children.
Special thanks go to Mike Edworthy for arranging the whole trip and also a big thank you to staff at Plymouth Argyle for making it such and enjoyable day.
