SATURDAY, January 13 saw many Crediton Youth sides in league cup action.
After so many disturbed weekends owing to the weather it was a great relief to see so many games go ahead.
The U16’s were away at Heavitree Hawks for their league cup quarter-final. Goals came from Alfie Poole, Ben Betts, Charlie Cookson, Frankie Mason and Gabe Smith and this saw them progress with a 5-1 victory.
Also through to the semi-finals are the U15’s who ran out 6-0 winners at home against Broadclyst. Rhys Ebdy scored two, Daniel Burgess, Harry Norman, Jayden Friend and Zach Mildon getting their goals.
Joining them in the draw will be U14’s who went through to the next round after their 8-1 victory away at Culm Sampford.
Alfie Williams-Greenwood lead the goal scoring with four, Seb Roche with two and Ashley Henderson and Jake Shepherd also on target.
The U12’s went into their cup tie against Exmouth Town very much the underdogs.
They matched their visitors in a very entertaining first half which ended three apiece, with the Crediton goals coming from Harvey Pickard, Jayden Saunders and Riad Abdel-Hay. Despite a battling performance in the second half they eventually lost out 6-3.
It was not to be the U11’s day as they hosted Division One side Central Tornadoes.
They put in a strong battling performance, but lost out 1-0 to their guests. But their coaches are really proud of their cup run.
The U10 Pumas were away at Bradninch Youth Eagles in their Plate fixture. Goals from Kit Bloxham-Hatt with a sublime free kick and a fine solo goal from Archie Shirt saw them progress to the next round.
It was heartbreak for the U9 City as they went out of the cup at Starcross Dons Dynamo’s 1-0. Harry Shepard took player of the match.
The U9 United team hosted Bradninch in a friendly and had two wins. Lenni Wilmott was player of the match.
It was league action for the U13’s who lost out 3-2 away at Whipton. Ethan Moore and Will Matten getting their goals.
Sunday, January 14 saw the U15 girls take on Torquay United Community Yellows at Lords Meadow. They went down 6-2 against the league leaders. Lily Anne Smith and Evie Lewis grabbing their goals.
The U13 girls were away at Torquay and lost out 1-0 to a rather controversial goal.
Amazingly, both U11 girls sides also hosted Torquay sides. Late goals saw narrow defeats for both teams.
